About Network Mapping

Network Mapping is an Aerial Laser Survey company specialising in corridor mapping.Our company was previously part of National Grid plc (the high voltage power grid in the UK and parts of the USA). However, it was subject to a Management Buy Out in 2007 and, in its new, form brings with it all of the key staff and assets that have more than eight years of experience and over 50,000 km worth of delivery of high quality engineering products produced from aerial laser and photogrammetric surveys.
Our origin is clearly in the mapping of power-lines and we have the in-house skills to produce full end-user engineering products for the power industry and have delivered such services to power
companies worldwide.
However, our surveying skills and experience, and in particular our ability to execute corridor mapping from helicopters, has led to us to provide survey services such as the production of digital terrain models to many other industries, including mines and rail, and other applications such as coastal erosion and floodplain and flood defence mapping.

The advantages of LiDAR

The advantages of LiDAR as a technique are:
• Speed of data capture
• Minimal requirement for ground access
• High measurement density
(~20 measurements per metre)
• Provides full high definition photo mosaic
• Flexible dataset can be used in proprietary engineering software
• Visualisations for public/client events
• Good penetration of dense vegetation
• Costs often significantly less than traditional techniques particularly where ground access
is difficult.
