Highways and Railway Surveys - Design
Following the LiDAR survey Network Mapping use a Digital Terrain Model (DTM). From this we can create a horizontal alignment depicting straights, curves and clothoids. Following a review of the horizontal alignment, we subsequently create a vertical alignment to equalize cut/fill volumes and vehicle movements accounting for bulking factors etc.
Network Mapping can then finalise the route in programmes such as 'InRoads', 'InRail', 'MX' or similar ready for visualization or final design (e.g. for capacity) by the highway consultant.
